Help shape the future of local health and care

Local residents are still being invited to get involved, debate and help shape the future of health and social care in Pennine Lancashire at one of a series of summer engagement events – with an extra date just announced.

NHS, local councils and voluntary community and faith sector organisations in Pennine Lancashire, which is made up of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, have been working together for the past year on a programme to change the way health and social care is delivered in the area.

Together A Healthier Future aims to improve health and wellbeing whilst ensuring health and social care services meet residents’ needs. It also aims to meet the tough financial challenge in the next few years.

Over the last year, the programme has been talking and listening to members of the public through a series of engagement events, face to face meetings and on social media.

And a further series of events have been running throughout June and July and will continue into August in locations across Pennine Lancashire to update people on progress and share initial ideas about the next steps.

A new event has just been added in Blackburn on August 9 at Blackburn Central Library.
Dr Chris Clayton, Chief Officer of Together a Healthier Future, said:

“We are particularly grateful over the past year that so many people have got involved and helped us come up with ideas about how to improve health and care services in Pennine Lancashire. We have been considering these ideas in developing our initial proposals.

We would now like to get people back – and even more people involved – to show them what we’ve been working on and get vital feedback from them on those ideas and what happens next.”

Everyone is invited to attend any of the remaining events and tell friends, family and colleagues to come along too.
